Alexlis Rivera-Jinel
Alexlis Rivera-Jinel was born in Globe, Arizona. In elementary school, she moved to Tempe, Arizona where she resided for nearly a decade, before moving to Tucson, Arizona to attend The University of Arizona. She is currently a sophomore majoring in Animal Sciences and hopes to pursue a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Born in a mining town and born to an asthmatic mother, she has always been aware of the environment around her. As a teenager, she joined her high school’s Environmental Club. Through this club, she was able to learn more about the relationships between humans, agriculture, and the environment. This led to her adopting a vegan lifestyle, which she still promotes to this day. Driven by these experiences, she continued to seek more information about different environmental impacts and grew passionate about the environment as a whole. In the future, she hopes to combine both her knowledge of animal science and environmental science to create a sustainable practice as a Veterinarian. She is careful to make sure what she takes out of this earth is for a good cause and she is always looking for things to do to improve it and leave it better for future generations than how she found it. She strives to learn more about environmental health and hopes to give back to her community and the earth.
